This name doesn’t cover the casino alone, but also a hotel and other buildings, so we can call this complex “a city in the city”. As to the height of the casino, it’s owner wanted 553 meters at the very beginning, but this height was prohibited by the Federal Aviation Administration, because this height would be dangerous due to closeness of McCarran International airport. At the moment when the tower was under construction, in 1993, it was on fire, which led to some repairs and delayed the whole construction process.

Only in 1996 the construction process of the tower was absolutely completed and the tower was put into use. Its structure has the following elements: a restaurant, two observation desks and four speed rides. Even now the Mirage is considered the founder of Las Vegas contemporary conception. The resort has several exciting attraction, including a dolphin habitat, a poolside, a secret green garden and a huge artificial volcano.

Caesars Palace

Hard Rock

Another entertainment resort, worth visiting, is the Hard Rock. Brookfield Asset Management is the owner of this place in collaboration with Warner Gaming. The property of about 6 hectares is located on Paradise Road. The gaming space of the casino embraces over 2,800 square meters, but gambling is just one of many sources of the Hard Rock’s earnings. This place offers so many facilities for entertaining its customers, for example, restaurants, a poker room, cocktail lounges, a nightclub, great number of shops and even a Tahiti-style beach.

Peter Morton’s team designed and constructed the casino in 1995, then it was renovated and greatly expanded several times. The latest renovation happened in 2010.

The casino’s history is connected with John Entwistle, a musician from “the Who”. He died in one of Hard Rock’s hotel rooms in 2002. Now this room has turned into a museum, visited by the fans of this group.

The total space of the resort is 12,500 square meters and its style is dedicated to the South-East Asia. The casino was opened in winter 1996, and at the beginning it was Project Paradise casino in style of Hawaii. But 2 years later the casino was renovated and everything changed, including the casino’s name. Now it’s known as Mandalay Bay, but in the real Mandalay, Burma’s capital, there’s no bay.

In 2003 another facility was built next to the casino. We are talking about a gigantic Convention center, which is believed to be one of the largest convention centers in the whole USA. No wonder, because its territory embraces over 93,000 square meters. This center includes a few large ballrooms.

The resort also contains 24 restaurants, lounges and bars, a great shopping mall, a shark reef aquarium and the casino’s own beach (it embraces 4.5 hectares and includes a small waterfall, a wave pool and a swimming pool made specially for kids).

The Shark Reef aquarium, located on the casino’s territory, is believed to be one of the largest aquariums in the whole North America. The casino resort hosts such amazing shows as “The Lion King”, “Michael Jackson: One” and “Mamma Mia!”

The Palms

This casino resort can be rightfully called one of the most favorite casinos of the city. Its location is Flamingo Road, not far from the luxurious Las Vegas Strip.
